BOSA Unveils Local Government Manifesto, Pledges Clean Governance and Better Services

‎Build One South Africa (BOSA) has officially launched its first local government manifesto, positioning the party as a champion of transparent governance, accountable leadership and improved municipal service delivery ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

‎

‎At the manifesto launch, BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane, together with the party’s mayoral and municipal candidates, signed the BOSA Pledge, committing themselves to strict standards of ethical leadership, transparency, zero tolerance for corruption and accountability to residents.

‎

‎The party says the pledge is intended to move beyond political promises by placing clear obligations on its representatives to govern with “clean hands and open books.”

‎

‎BOSA’s municipal plan focuses on a practical, funded and time-bound approach to local government, with priorities including reliable basic services, infrastructure development, economic growth, safer communities, strong municipal institutions and responsible financial management.

‎

‎Cape Town mayoral candidate Roger Solomon said residents should be treated as clients rather than simply voters. He highlighted service excellence, service parity and competent, transparent leadership as central to BOSA’s approach.

‎In Tshwane, mayoral candidate Martha Moshiga pledged to restore civic dignity, administrative stability and a culture of public service in the capital.

‎

‎BOSA Deputy Leader, MP and Johannesburg mayoral candidate Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster outlined a vision focused on restoring municipal functionality and enforcing accountability for basic services. Her priorities also include stronger financial management, revitalising Johannesburg’s economy and improving public safety through an expanded Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department presence.

‎Meanwhile, Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate Nongelo Chiume described the manifesto launch as a significant milestone for BOSA, saying the party had presented a blueprint for what municipalities could look like after the 4 November 2026 local government elections.

‎BOSA says its candidates are committed to putting effective governance ahead of political excuses, with an emphasis on building functioning municipalities, strengthening institutions and creating conditions for local economic growth.

‎The party is now calling on voters to participate in the upcoming elections and support what it describes as a new chapter of ethical and accountable local leadership.
